Atze Glanert

Hans-Joachim "Atze" Glanert (born February 8, 1941 in Berlin ; † March 20, 2016 there ) was a German cameraman and director .

Life

Glanert had taught himself photographic skills and began working as a cameraman in 1965. His first work worth mentioning was the American TV documentary series Outdoor World, broadcast in 1967 . Immediately after his work on the documentary winter sports film Happening in Weiß , which was awarded the 1st International Sports Film Prize , Glanert switched to the sex film industry in the spring of 1969 and photographed several films by the Munich producer Alois Brummer . In 1969/70 he also directed two of these productions under the pseudonym Albert Trenalg - read backwards for Glanert.

Glanert then started his work as head cameraman for regular feature films, but was also repeatedly in a subordinate position: in the Ronald Neame thriller The Odessa files, made in Germany in the winter of 1973/74 (including in Hamburg ) and in 1976 for the prominent film The Ultimatum as a second-unit photographer. In 1979 he only found employment as a camera assistant for the horse film Lucky Star . In 1974 he was involved in Norman Jewison's Hollywood production Rollerball . In the meantime, Glanert continued to shoot documentaries; Among other things, he was involved as a cameraman in the making of the Olympic films in Munich in 1972 (Summer Games) and Innsbruck in 1976 (Winter Games).
