action

Worries plague the King of Somewhere: The pantries are empty and he has no money. The only way out, proposed by his advisors Schnorr and Astropolex, that his young daughter should marry the King of Persipania, fails: the princess refuses the wedding and the king only wants to marry a rich woman.

One night during a thunderstorm, the king lets a young woman into the castle, who is allowed to warm herself by the fireplace soaked and to whom he gives her last ration of milk . She turns out to be a fairy who now gives him rich presents: He receives a magic button with which he can wish for whatever food he wants. Soon he lets confectionery appear, somehow conjures up a rich breakfast for every resident and later a hearty lunch. The residents are enthusiastic and so the king continues to do magic. Wine and lemonade now gush out of the village fountain, the fountain itself is made of marzipan and the fences are made of chocolate. In order not to endanger the splendor, the king has a milk rice mountain grow around the country .

However, the children in particular soon notice the disadvantages. A girl has a toothache, but the doctor cannot get across the milk rice mountains to the newly named “ land of milk and honey” . The children and adults become fat and lazy. Only the princess defends itself against the excessive eating, she has but the story of the unjust Cockaigne read in which the industrious and the lazy are poor rich.

The King of Persipanen learns of the new land of milk and honey and now wants to marry the princess. With the help of a camel, he manages to penetrate the milk rice mountains. The doctor also gets into the country in this way. While the princess tries to prevent a connection with the king of Persipania, the children begin to protest against the life of milk and honey with the doctor and the school teacher, whose school was closed by the king "because of laziness". They bring the princess on their side. When the king, on Schnorr's advice, also lets sweets rain down from the sky, the princess cuts off the button and lets all of the food that the button wants disappear in the country. She sends the button up into the sky by balloon. The King of Persipania is no longer interested in the princess, but takes Schnorr with him. The King of Somewhere hires the doctor in his place, who will be a better advisor to him.

Cinema described the film as a "mild economic miracle satire."
