August Friedrich von Etzdorff

August Friedrich von Etzdorff (born August 4, 1739 in Etzdorf ; † August 10, 1792 there ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the Württemberg Major General Karl Friedrich von Etzdorff (* February 22, 1692; † November 9, 1772) and his wife Luise Ernestine Eleonore, born von Rottoff (* December 4, 1709; † May 12, 1763) from the Reichartsbeuren family . His father was a knight of the military order of St. Charles and heir to Etzdorf and Rauda .

Military career

In 1754, Etzdorff first served in the Electoral Saxon service . On April 20, 1757 he became an ensign in the service of Württemberg and was there in the infantry regiment "von Röder". He rose to Second Lieutenant on July 16, 1757 and took part in the Seven Years' War from 1757 to 1762 . On January 1, 1758, he came with the patent as a staff captain in the life guard on foot. On March 5, 1762 he became a captain with a patent from a chief sergeant . After the war on August 4, 1765, Etzdorff received his resignation .

On April 6, 1766 he went in Prussian service , where he came as a captain and company commander in the regiment no. 50 . On July 12, 1774 he was promoted to major and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On May 21, 1784 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on March 9, 1786 to colonel . On August 20, 1791, he received his resignation as major general with a pension and permission to wear the uniform.

Etzdorff died on August 10, 1792 in Etzdorf and was buried in Altenburg on August 11, 1792.
