Augustin Sagna

Augustin Sagna (born October 23, 1920 in Bignona , Ziguinchor region , Senegal ; † December 12, 2012 in Ziguinchor , Senegal) was Bishop of Ziguinchor .

Life

Augustin Sagna entered the minor seminary in Ziguinchor after attending the school in Fogny, and later the major seminary in Koumi in Upper Volta . He was ordained a priest on March 17, 1950 in Ségou , Mali , and was initially teacher and superior of the Minor Seminary in Ziguinchor. He was vicar general and cathedral capitular .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Ziguinchor on September 29, 1966 . The Archbishop of Dakar , Hyacinthe Thiandoum , donated him episcopal ordination on January 15, 1967 at the Saint-Louis seminary in Ziguinchor; Co- consecrators were Luc Auguste Sangaré , Archbishop of Bamako , and Prosper Dodds CSSp , Bishop of Saint-Louis du Sénégal . His episcopal motto was: Omnia in Christo (“Everything in Christ”).

On October 23, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He continued to work as a pastor in Cabrousse.
