Aurel Percă (born August 15, 1951 in Săbăoani , Neamț County , Moldova , Romania ) is a Romanian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bucharest in Romania.

Life

Aurel Percă was ordained a priest on June 29, 1979 in Iași . In 1980 he was sent to Rome for further studies. He obtained a licentiate in theology Oriental at the Pontifical Oriental Institute and in moral theology at the Alphonsian Academy . In 1985 he returned to his homeland and was appointed Cancellarius Curiae in the Ordinariate in Iași. He became a professor of moral theology and patrology at the Catholic theological institute Sankt Joseph in Iași. Between 1989 and 1994 he was rector of the seminary of Iași.

On September 29, 1999, he was appointed titular bishop of Mauriana and auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Iași by Pope John Paul II . The episcopal ordination received his Bishop Petru Gherghel on 8 December 1999; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Jean-Claude Périsset , the Apostolic Nuncio in Romania, and the Archbishop of Bucharest , Ioan Robu .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Bucharest on November 21, 2019. The inauguration took place on January 11 of the following year.
