On July 4, 2017, Petersen announced that he would run for the US Senate as a Republican against the Democrat Claire McCaskill .

His supporters ( endorsement ) include actor Mark Pellegrino and former Republican MP Bob Barr from Georgia .

Political positions

Petersen sees himself as a constitutional libertarian who also pursues a conservative platform. He is a strong advocate of gun ownership and Amendment 2 to the United States Constitution . In 2013, he hosted the Toy Gun March in Washington, DC , promoting safe and responsible weapon carrying. Participants brought water guns and other toy guns. The event was also used as a protest against Obama's attempt to severely restrict gun ownership.

Petersen is anti-abortion . In the event of his nomination for President of the United States, he proposed that the Penny Plan be submitted to Congress . The aim is to reduce government spending and its debts by cutting one percent of the spending per government agency and at the same time rebuilding the current tax system, which he believes is directed against the working population. Petersen wants to limit the state tasks to its core functions with a lower flat taxation. The rest of the work should be funded on a voluntary basis if possible, through tolls or lotteries like the Mountain Road Lottery launched by George Washington .

Controversy

In the summer of 2015 Petersen fell into an Internet radio show into an argument with the presenter during which Petersen among others, the pyramidal bunch of pussies in which I swim regularly boasted ( the pyramid pile of pussy did I swim in on a regular basis ).

When asked about this dispute by Glenn Beck , he defended himself by saying that he had defended an acquaintance whose honor the presenter of the Internet radio show had injured by sending a nude photo.
