The Austria Rock Festival was an Austrian rock music - Festival of the 1970s and 1980s in Pinkafeld ( Burgenland ) and Zeltweg ( Styria ). It took place for the first time on April 29 and 30, 1978 in the Martini Hall in Pinkafeld (Burgenland). The festival was planned and organized by the rock band Opus , and later by Welcome .

The festival years

1978: At the first festival the following appeared among others: Opus , Hallucination Company , Wolfgang Ambros .

1979: Sigi Maron , Eela Craig , Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung , Ganymed , STS , Peter Ratzenbeck .

1980: Harri Stojka Express , Bluespumpm , Minisex , Magic 69 (with Boris Bukowski and Günter Timischl ). Gotthard Rieger was the moderator .

June 6-7, 1981: New Dreamboat (with Hansi Lang ) played among others . The Austrian Radio broadcast live on television from the Austria Rock Festival. Isolated riots in Pinkafeld and the resulting resistance from the population were one of the reasons for the later relocation of the festival to Zeltweg.

3. / 4 July 1982: bilgeri , Ulli Bäer , Wilfried , No Bros . 6,000 visitors. "Drunken rock fans lined the Pinkafelder city center for three days." Nevertheless, "in contrast to the previous year, there were no noteworthy riots."

May 20-22, 1983: From 1983 the festival took place in Zeltweg. As the organizer, the Styrian group Welcome replaced the Opus that had previously been responsible for the festival. Among others in 1983 with: Tom Pettings Hertzattacken , Hansi Lang .

May 24-26, 1985 in Voitsberg: Sextiger , Maria Bill .
