The Avalon Panorama is a cabin passenger ship built by Pano River Equity AG in Zug in 2010/2011 , which is under the management of River Services GmbH in Basel and is time chartered by the US tour operator Avalon Waterways on the Danube , Main , Moselle and Rhine is used. The Avalon Panorama was built in 2010/2011 under the construction number 3420 at the Scheepswerf Jac. built the Breejen in Hardinxveld-Giessendam . On April 14, 2011 the ship with the ENI no. 02333460 entered in the Basel shipping register. The ship was christened on May 14th by the Australian TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson in Mainz . The subsequent maiden voyage led to Amsterdam. The ship has been in service since May 18, 2011. The trips are only marketed in English-speaking countries.

Average

On May 15, 2012, the Avalon Panorama rammed the substructure of a road bridge on the Main-Danube Canal near Forchheim . Parts of the wheelhouse, which was not lowered enough, were torn down and various nautical equipment was damaged. The property damage was several tens of thousands of euros. The captain, who at the time of the accident steered the ship via the external control stand, had misjudged the headroom. Nobody was injured in the accident . After an emergency repair, the ship was able to sail to the next shipyard .

The Avalon Panorama is a three -and- a-half- deck cabin ship in the 5-star category with 64 standard, 17 comfort cabins and two suites. The cabins are air-conditioned and each equipped with a shower, toilet, television, telephone and safe. The cabins on the middle and upper deck have a French balcony . The 26 cabins for the 47-person crew are located in the rear area of ​​the lower deck. In addition to the entrance hall with reception and excursion office on the upper deck in the middle of the ship, there is the panorama salon with bar, the bistro and two lounges . Aft is the club lounge with a small outdoor terrace. The panorama restaurant and the galley are located on the front main deck. A fitness room is available to passengers on the lower deck. The middle and upper deck are connected by an elevator.

It is driven by two Caterpillar C32 diesel engines of 746 kW each via two counter-rotating rudder propellers from Vethz -Drive of the type 800A-CR . The ship has a Veth-Jet type 4-K-1200 bow thruster , which is powered by a 355 kW electric motor. In addition, the ship has three Scania and one AGCO SISU POWER auxiliary diesel engines. The power supply on board is ensured by four diesel generators .
