Bärbel Rust (born April 22, 1955 in Braunschweig ) is a German politician ( Greens ). From 1987 to 1988 she was spokeswoman for the GREEN parliamentary group .

family

Rust is the mother of two children. In 1990, Rust and her family moved from Bavaria to North Rhine-Westphalia .

education and profession

After graduating from high school , Bärbel Rust completed an apprenticeship as an electrical assistant. She then worked as a software developer until 1985 , after which she devoted herself to looking after her children.

From 1990 to 1992 Rust was a member of the board of directors of the Freiburg-Darmstadt Eco-Institute . There she was responsible for the area of ​​genetic engineering.

Political party

Rust has been a member of the GRÜNEN since 1984. She belonged to the regional association of Bavaria. In the 1980s, Rust was a member of the board of the Nürnberger Land district association and of the Central Franconia district council . Her political focus was environmental and women's policy . Rust was involved within the state party in the state working group women.

After leaving the German Bundestag , Rust did not hold any party political offices for several years. At the end of the 1990s she got involved again within the party. Rust became secretary of the Troisdorf Green Local Association . In the board by-elections at the Green State Delegate Conference from January 25 to 27, 2002, Rust was elected as an assessor in the state board of the North Rhine-Westphalian Greens.
