Bärndorf is a village  and cadastral community of the city of Rottenmann in Styria , 11 km from the old town of Rottenmann .

history

The earliest written document is from 1150 and reads "Perndorf". The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Bero .

Until 1974, Bärndorf formed its own community, consisting of the cadastral communities Bärndorf (or Berndorf) and Büschendorf. In 1845 it had 56 houses and 295 inhabitants; In 1860 there were 385 inhabitants. In 1943 parts of the municipality were ceded to Rottenmann. In 1955 Bärnbach, Singsdorf and Edlach were united to form the municipality of Palten, which was attached to Rottenmann in 1974.
