Sankt Georgen , also Sankt Georgen bei Rottenmann , is one of 13 localities in the Austrian municipality of Rottenmann in Styria .
Geographical location
Sankt Georgen is about one kilometer east of Rottenmann's old town and begins at the eastern end of Schulallee. The place is at 680 m above sea level. A. Height.
The village of Sankt Georgen also includes the hamlet Schindlhof, the Scattered Houses Sankt Georgen-Scattered Houses and Scheibenboden as well as several individual farms.
The Rottenmanner Hütte is also located in Sankt Georgen.
history
The village is considered the "original" Rottenmann. The first settlement in the area around Rottenmann was around the church of St. Georgen . Since there was no further expansion of the place due to a swamp, the settlement in today's downtown Rottenmann was expanded around 1200. In 1848 Sankt Georgen had 310 inhabitants in 60 houses. Around 1850 St. Georgen and Strechau were incorporated into Rottenmann.
On January 1, 2020, 241 people lived in St. Georgen.
