Geographical location
Albany is in the southwest of Orleans County. The town is primarily agricultural. The Black River flows through Albany in a northeast direction. The terrain is hilly, with no significant elevations. The highest point is the Holiday Hill with 373 m height. In the southwest is the Great Hosmer Pond .

history
Albany was proclaimed on June 27, 1781, the grant for Albany received on June 26, 1782 Colonel Henry E. Lutherloh and Major Thomas Cogswell, and others. The town was named Lutterloh after Colonel Henry Emannuel Lutterloh. Lutterloh was the deputy quartermaster of George Washington's Continental Army. The survey took place in 1788. On March 23, 1806 the constituent city assembly took place. On October 13, 1815, the name was changed to Albany . As early as 1779, the Bayley-Hazen Military Road was the first road to reach Albany.

The Vermont State Route 14 runs from northeast to southwest through the town of Irasburg in the north to the south Craftsbury. There is no train station in Albany.
