Băleni is a Romanian municipality in Dâmbovița County in the historical region of Great Wallachia . The seat of the municipality is Băleni-Sârbi .

Geographical location

The municipality is located at an altitude of about 200 meters above sea level, has about 8,600 inhabitants and consists of two districts, Băleni-Sârbi (" Serbian-Băleni ", western part) and Băleni-Români (" Romanian-Băleni ", eastern part ). On the district road ( Drum județean ) DJ 711, the place is about 22 kilometers southeast of the district capital Târgovişte ; Bucharest is located about 55 kilometers southeast of Băleni.

4512 hectares of the municipal area are arable land, 326 hectares are pasture land, 683 hectares are forested and 26 hectares are bodies of water. The area of the community through rivers flow Pascov and Racoviţa and Ialomita .

In 2002, 8,324 people were registered in the municipality of Băleni. 7849 of them were Romanians , 420 were Bulgarians , 53 were Roma , as well as a Magyar and a Serb were registered in Băleni.

On October 31, 2011, a preliminary census in the municipality of Băleni counted 8247 people in 2267 households.

The main occupation of the population is growing vegetables .
