Railway stations in Berlin |
The Südende station is an S-Bahn station in the same-named location in the Berlin district of Steglitz in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district . The station is served by the S-Bahn with lines S25 and S26. It has access from Steglitzer Damm. The abbreviation in the Deutsche Bahn operating point directory is BSDE .
history
The station was opened on August 15, 1880 as the southern end of the Anhalter Bahn stop . Between 1882 and 1899 he had the double name Südende-Lankwitz. In 1901 the railway line was lowered, the station was rebuilt and given a central platform . This and the station building are located southwest of the bridge over Steglitzer Damm. The suburban railway has been running with 750 volts direct current since July 2, 1929 . After the takeover of the S-Bahn by the BVG on January 9, 1984, the Priesterweg - Lichterfelde Süd section with the Südende station was shut down and only reopened on May 28, 1995 after renovation work.
architecture
The reception building from 1901 no longer exists. It was replaced by a more recent one. The central platform has a roof in the classic S-Bahn design: a gable roof supported by cast-iron columns . The reception building and the platform are connected by a covered staircase. It was executed in typical "greenhouse architecture". The style of the connecting passage to the elevator , which was added later and leads to the upper level (Steglitzer Damm), has also been adapted. There is a supervisory building on the platform, but it is no longer used.
traffic
The S-Bahn station is served by the S25 and S26 lines of the Berlin S-Bahn. There is a possibility to change to bus line 282 of the BVG .
