The station Gross Gerau-Dornberg is a total of five platform tracks the largest and most important railway station of the Hessian county seat Gross-Gerau . Surname
Originally the station was called Dornberg-Groß Gerau . On May 1, 1933, it was renamed Groß Gerau-Dornberg . The “misspelling” of the name component “Groß Gerau” without a hyphen is based on the Prussian spelling rules at the beginning of the 20th century. The station has five platform tracks, which can be reached via a house platform on track 1 and an island platform on tracks 2 and 3 as well as 4 and 5. To the south of the reception building (in the direction of Mannheim) there are additional freight tracks, which end shortly before the reception building as butt tracks with buffer stops.
Between the Riedbahn and the Rhein-Main-Bahn ( Mainz - Darmstadt - Aschaffenburg ) there are two connecting curves on the Mannheim – Mainz and Mannheim – Darmstadt routes.
