The Oeiras train station is one of the six train stations in the area of the city of the same name on the Costa do Estoril in Portugal. The station is located on the Linha de Cascais and is only served by suburban trains of the CP Urbanos de Lisboa .

history

The station was opened to traffic on September 30, 1889 as part of today's Linha de Cascais at the same time as the Cascais – Pedrouços railway line of Companhia Real dos Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses . To this day, the route has been operated almost independently by the CP. None of the railway stations on the route are linked to other lines on the Portuguese rail network; only a currentless connecting track with the Linha de Cintura in Alcântara is available for transferring vehicles.

Plant and reception building

The disabled-accessible station has a two-story entrance building with a hipped roof. The station building is only connected to the railway systems by a narrow platform. The platform is no longer used today. In the reception building there are facilities for purchasing tickets for suburban trains of the Comboios de Portugal , toilets and a bar. The station has three platform tracks and numerous service and sidings. The three platform tracks are located on two central platforms, with central platform 2 being accessible from both platforms. This fact is also used in the operations of the Linha de Cascais: the trains from Lisbon that end in Oeiras stop on platform 2, while the trains from the Lisbon Cais do Sodré – Cascais connection stop on the two outer platforms and change trains on the same platform in both directions can be offered. The platforms are 142 meters long and 1.1 meters high.

traffic

railroad

Oeiras is the end point of one of the two train routes of the Linha de Cascais line family of the CP Urbanos de Lisboa Monday to Friday. The train route Oeiras - Lisbon Cais do Sodré stops at all stations - the journey time to Cais do Sodré is 26 minutes. At the same time, the Cascais – Lisbon Cais do Sodré line runs with a connection on the same platform as the platform, which stops at all stations between Cascais and Oeiras and then accelerates with stops in Algés and Lisbon Alcântara-Mar to Cais do Sodré and takes 17 minutes. Both train routes run every twelve minutes (partially compressed during rush hour), with around two minutes to change trains in Oeiras. On weekends and public holidays, trains run every 20 minutes from Cascais to Lisbon with stops at all stations.

bus

Oeiras train station is a bus hub where various companies offer various connections. The Vimeca / Lisboa Transportes connects the Oeiras train station with the Paço de Arcos train station or with the Praça de Espanha in Lisbon. Vimeca also operates bus line 112, which runs from Oeiras train station via Lagoas Park and Taguspark to Agualva / Cacém train station on the Linha de Sintra and on to Belas . The company Scoturb provides connections from Oeiras to Station Sintra , to the station Rio de Mouro and after Parede on.
