history
The station was opened on April 2, 1887, when both the Linha de Sintra between Sintra and Alcântara-Terra and the Linha do Oeste from here to Caldas da Rainha opened under the name of Cacém . The station had its function as a separation station since its opening. In the course of the renovation work, which began in 2009 and provides for a four-track expansion of the Linha de Sintra from Monte Abraão to Agualva / Cacém, the station was no longer named after the location freguesia, but after the city, Agualva / Cacém.
