The Berlin-Lichterfelde Süd – Teltow Stadt railway line is a single-track, direct-current operated main railway line in Berlin and Brandenburg . It is used by the trains of the S-Bahn Berlin . The route begins at Berlin-Lichterfelde Süd train station and branches off the Anhalter Bahn at the city limits of Berlin . The line went into operation in 2005. Already in the time between the two world wars there were plans for this route and an extension to Stahnsdorf .
history
Initial plans for a connection of the suburban line of the Anhalter Bahn near Lichterfelde with the city of Teltow and the cemetery railway in Stahnsdorf were made in the 1920s. In the 1930s, the National Socialists planned an extensive renovation of Berlin's railway systems, especially in the south of the city. This S-Bahn route was planned again. A parallel freight line was planned between Teltow's city center and Stahnsdorf, which was to establish a connection from the Großbeeren marshalling yard via Stahnsdorf to Potsdam . Both projects were not carried out, but earthworks were carried out in several places. During the renovation of the Lichterfelde Süd station by 1943, which received two platforms, the planned route was also taken into account.
After the end of the Second World War and the subsequent division of Germany , the plans were not pursued, but the route was (at least in parts) structurally clear.
After the reopening of the S-Bahn to Lichterfelde Süd in 1998, interest in extending the line to Teltow grew. The first cut of the spade to extend the line took place on October 22, 2003, and the line went into operation on February 24, 2005. In contrast to the original plans, the line was only built as a single track and no stop was built in Teltow-Seehof.
In February 2014, the new S-Bahn Berlin (ZBS) train control system went into operation on the route . This replaces the previous mechanical travel locks .
As part of the i2030 project , the "Potsdamer Stammbahn / S25 Süd" corridor is a sub-project in which the route from the current Teltow Stadt terminus via the new Teltow Iserstr. will be extended to the new terminal station Stahnsdorf Sputendorfer Str .
Teltow Stadt train station
location

- Location: 52 ° 23 ′ 48.8 ″ N , 13 ° 16 ′ 35 ″ E
Connection
Since the line opened in 2005, the S25 has operated every 20 minutes. In July 2011, the 10-minute cycle was recorded during the day. As a result, and by coordinating the regional bus network with the S-Bahn cycle, the number of weekday passengers could be increased from 3200 in 2008 to 7000 in 2012. Since the timetable change on December 10, 2017, the station has been served by the S25 and S26 S-Bahn lines, which each run every 20 minutes.
Bus stops are located directly at the entrances. From here, Potsdam , Stahnsdorf , Kleinmachnow , Ludwigsfelde , Blankenfelde , Mahlow and downtown Berlin can be reached. There is also a P&R car park north of the station.
