The Bankkogel or the Bankspitze ( Italian Bocchetta Gelata Ovest ) is 3311  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the southern Ötztal Alps . It is located in the west-east running Alpine main ridge , which is called Schnalskamm here . The state border between Austria and Italy runs over its summit . It can be accessed from the Hochwildehaus in the north or from the Pfossental in the south.

Location and surroundings

After NordNordWest Kogel the bank sends a pronounced ridge which Mitter crest of glacier Gurgler Further , extending at its northern flank. The south side drops into the South Tyrolean Pfossental and is protected in the Texel Group Nature Park . Neighboring mountains are the Falschunggspitze in the west , and in the east, separated by the Gurgler Eisjoch , rises the 3480 meter high Hochwilde . The closest villages are Karthaus in Schnalstal in the south and Obergurgl in the north . Kogel the bank can be climbed by the northern shelter Hochwildehaus out in a column-rich Gletschertour, or from the Pfossental out from the Grubalm (2506 m).
