Bas Sibum (born December 26, 1982 in Emmen-Nieuw-Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch football player .

Career

Sibum began his career at SV Twedo in Nieuw-Amsterdam; The fan of Wim Jonk and Phillip Cocu switched to BVO Emmen when he was still young . Here the midfielder also began his professional career; in the 2000/01 season he came as a substitute in the away game at Heracles Almelo on April 7, 2001 for the first time in the Eerste Divisie . In his third and last year with the second division he was a regular player, made 33 appearances and scored five goals; at the end of the season Emmen was second in the table, but could not realize promotion in the relegation.

At FC Emmen, the 1.83 meter tall Sibum was discovered by scouts from FC Twente , who brought him to Enschede as an honorary division for the 2003/04 season . Here Sibum was soon able to secure a place in the regular formation with coach René Vandereycken alongside Peter Niemeyer , Giorgi Gakhokidze and Simon Cziommer . In three seasons he played 87 games for the Tukkers , before he finally did not get beyond the role of substitute under coach Fred Rutten , who preferred a three-man midfield with Orlando Engelaar , Otman Bakkal and Karim El Ahmadi . During the winter break, two midfielders, Niemeyer and Sibum, left the club; Niemeyer went to Werder Bremen , Sibum moved to Roda Kerkrade .

In his year with Roda JC he could not prevail in the team of Raymond Atteveld , but scored here on February 10, 2007 his first Eredivisie goal in the 1-0 win against the NEC, in which he signed a three-and-a-half year contract in January 2008 . In Nijmegen he quickly became a regular player and a darling of the public. In the UEFA Cup , he was able to prove his skills internationally in seven games with coach Mario Been ; NEC only ended in the third round with two 0: 3 and 0: 1 defeats against Hamburger SV . In the 2009/10 season he threw a hip injury, but during the winter break, he returned to the team. With NEC, however , he was unable to advance to the first half of the table again in the 2010/11 season , after finishing eleven and thirteen in the preseason. For the 2011/12 season, Sibum moved to the German second division club Alemannia Aachen for free , with whom he was relegated , however, as penultimate from the second division. As a result, he left the club and moved to the Belgian first division club Waasland-Beveren . After playing for Heracles Almelo from 2014 to 2016 , Sibum moved to the lower class MVV Alcides and ended his active career there in February 2017.

Since July 1, 2017 he has been the coach of the U-19s at FC Emmen .
