The Batan Islands are a group of islands in the Philippines . They are located north of the main Philippine island of Luzón in the Strait of Luzon and belong to the province of Cagayan . The islands are separated from the Babuyan Islands in the south by the Balintang Canal and in the north by the Bashi Strait of Taiwan .
