Didicas is a volcanic island in the Philippines . It is located 25 km northeast of Nagayaman Point , the northeast tip of Camiguin Island on the Luzon Strait . Didicas is part of the Babuyan Islands . The island volcano is administered by the municipality of Calayan , which belongs to the province of Cagayan . It is one of the 22 active volcanoes in the Philippines.

Until 1952 the Didicas was an undersea volcano near the sea surface. The Didicas formed the island, which is now 1.4 km in diameter, in the eruption phase of 1952 and created the 228 meter high lava dome with its 400 meter crater .

The first records of the Didicas under the sea come from the year 1773. The first records that the Didicas formed an island come from 1862 after a four-year eruption phase in which the volcano piled up a 213 meter high island. However, this was removed again by the sea. The 1900 eruptions formed a 82-meter-high rock and the two 1952 eruptions formed what is now the island.
