Bavarian country geese are domestic geese that were bred in Franconia , Upper Palatinate , Lower Bavaria and Swabia . "Bavarian Country Goose" is a generic term for the native to these regions land punches .

The blue color of the Franconian goose was recognized by the Association of German Poultry Breeders as a Franconian country goose for demonstration purposes .

Existence and endangerment

The Society for the Preservation of Old and Endangered Domestic Animal Breeds named the Bavarian Land Geese together with the Bergischer Landhühner Bergischer Kräher , Bergischer Schlotterkamm and Krüper as " Endangered Livestock Breed of the Year 2001".

The Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food lists the Bavarian land geese in the " Red List of Endangered Livestock Breeds 2013 " in hazard class I (extremely endangered). According to this, there were 36 gander and 45 geese in Germany in 2013.
