The Holzhof Verlag Dresden is a German comic book publisher from Dresden .

history

The Holzhof Verlag was founded in 2005 by Guido Weißhahn in Dresden. Weißhahn has been running the website www.ddr-comics.de since 2000 , which deals with the history and processing of comics and picture stories in the GDR , the Soviet occupation zone and the new federal states . Many of these comics and picture stories were previously reprinted in well-known, regularly appearing children's and youth magazines such as Atze , Frösi , Drum , ABC-Zeitung , as well as in magazines such as NBI , Für Dich , Freie Welt (magazine) . With the new publications at Holzhof Verlag, many of the older comic strips were reworked and supplemented with previously unpublished material. The publishing house published now on the range of eastern Comics addition, works by other authors , cartoonists and artists . In 2011, the publisher took part in the free comic day for the first time with Holzhof Comix 1 - The Cunning Rocket and his Holzhofsoldaten .

Publishing program

The focus of the publishing program is the series Classics of GDR Picture History , in which works by well-known GDR artists such as B. Jürgen Günther with Flitzi, Mischa and Kalle, Jürgen Kieser with Fix and Fax , Hansgeorg Stengel and Karl Schrader with Max and Maxim , Heinz Jankofsky's comic about Nimmerklug im Knirpsenland , Horst Alisch with Ali and Archibald and with Käpt'n Lütt , Richard Hambach with Mäxchen Pfiffig and many more were published. The Holzhof Verlag continued to publish his comics with Edition Jürgen Günther, such as Otto and Alwin and Kasimir and Josefine from the Sächsische Zeitung . Its program comprises works by Erich Schmitt and Thomas Schmitt all Schweinevogel comics from 1987 to 2007 in TOTAL-O-RAMA of Erl , picture stories of Willy Moese and The Virtonauten of Remory of Hagen Flemming .

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Olsenbande , Holzhof published a comic by Otto Frello based on the fourth film in this series, Die Olsenbande und their big coup (Danish original title Olsen-bandens store kup ) with extensive additional and background material for the first time in German.

Beatcomix

Holzhof Verlag cooperates with the publishing house Beatcomix from Dresden, which was founded in April 2008 and which includes the cartoonists Mamei (Marian Meinhardt-Schönfeld) , Andreas Wehrheim , Ivo Kircheis and other artists, with the comics : Dave Grigger, Paralleluniversum, Der Schatz von Wörgl , Rocket Blues, Der Comic-Killer etc. Various comic albums by Beatcomix were awarded the ICOM Independent Comic Prize in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
