Bel Powley (* 7. March 1992 in London as Isobel Dorothy Powley ) is a British actress in film, television and theater. She starred in several films, including roles in Side by Side , The Diary of a Teenage Girl , A Royal Night, and Wildling .

life and career

Isobel Dorothy Powley began her acting career in 2007 as a teenager with roles in television series such as The Whistleblowers or MIHigh, in which she played the role of Daisy Millar in 23 episodes. In the following years she had other appearances in television series such as Klein Dorrit or Murderland and in the television films Mid Life Christmas and The Cabin . In 2014 she was also seen in 6 episodes of the Benidorm series .

In 2013 she made her feature film debut as the leading actress in Arthur Landon's family drama Side by Side . In 2015 she finally starred alongside Alexander Skarsgård in the drama The Diary of a Teenage Girl , directed by Marielle Heller. In the same year she cast director Julian Jarrold for his film drama A Royal Night in the role of Princess Margaret alongside actors such as Sarah Gadon , Rupert Everett and Emily Watson . In 2017 she was seen in the film adaptation of Mary Shelley, directed by Haifaa Al Mansour . In 2018 she played the lead role in the fantasy horror film Wildling by Fritz Böhm .

In addition to her film and television career, Bel Powley also pursues a career as a stage actress. Since her stage debut in 2009 at the studio theater of the Royal Court in London, she has participated in numerous theater productions. Among other things, she starred alongside Tom Riley on Broadway in the play Arcadia and in April de Angelis' successful West End production Jumpy .

In late June 2018, Powley became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
