Belsdorf is a district of the municipality Flechtingen in the district of Börde in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The place is on the Flechtinger ridge between 128 and 134 meters above sea level. To the east extend the forests of the Flechtinger Forest, which near Belsdorf is broken by a north-east running aisle with agricultural areas, which opens wide to the west. On the southern outskirts of extending to the northeast rises Allerzufluss Osterje. The 1134 district road runs through Belsdorf and connects the town with its neighboring towns of Behnsdorf in the south and Eickendorf in the north. The Flechtingen community center is 10 kilometers away and the district town of Haldensleben is 24 kilometers away. The former Vorwerk Damsendorf belonging to the village is one and a half kilometers northeast of the town center.

history

In the Geographical Handbook of the Magdeburg administrative district of 1820, Belsdorf was described as a village in the Gardelegen district with 222 inhabitants and 31 houses. It was parish in the parish of Behnsdorf. For the Vorwerk Damsendorf eight residents in two houses and a sheep farm were given. The Damsendorf Vorwerk was only separated from the Flechtingen manor district on September 30, 1928 when the Flechtingen estate was dissolved and merged with the rural community of Belsdorf.

The Gardelegen district was formed in 1815 as part of a Prussian administrative reform. Ninety years later, in 1910, the number of residents in Belsdorf had increased to 282; in 1933 it reached a temporary high with 319 residents. At the end of the Second World War, the place was initially in the area occupied by the US Army, but was handed over to the Soviet occupation zone on July 1, 1945 . After the territorial reform carried out by the GDR in 1952, Belsdorf was assigned to the Haldensleben district in the Magdeburg district . In 1964 the population had dropped to 295. After the territorial reorganization as a result of German reunification in 1990, Belsdorf was in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and was assigned to the Ohrekreis in 1994 . After another district reform, the place became part of the Börde district in 2007 . As part of the municipal reform of 2008, Belsdorf joined the newly formed municipality of Flechtingen on January 1, 2010 with the municipalities of Behnsdorf and Böddensell.

Belsdorf was shaped by agriculture for many centuries. The heraldic figure refers to this. The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and approved on June 13, 1996 by the Magdeburg Regional Council. According to the area change agreement of June 23, 2009 § 1 paragraph 7, the district may continue to use its previous coat of arms.

The flag of the former municipality is green and white striped and centered with the district coat of arms.
