Ben Zimmermann (* 1976 in Berlin ) is a German actor .

Life

Zimmermann, born in Berlin, attended schools in Germany and the United States . In 1994 he graduated from Monroe High School in Michigan with his high school diploma. He studied at the Bavarian Theater Academy "August Everding" in Munich , where he received an acting and musical training. In 2002 he graduated from there with a diploma. In 2004/05 he learned song interpretation (Brecht, Weill, Eisler) from the actress and Diseuse Gisela May . Later he attended seminars at the Institute for Acting, Film and Television Professions (ISFF) Berlin in the field of camera work and dubbing.

He had his first theater appearances during his training. This included u. a. the teenage lover Titta Nane in the Goldoni comedy Krach in Chiogga (2001; Akademietheater Munich ). After his acting training, he was mainly engaged as a freelance actor, mostly with piece contracts, at various theaters in Germany.

In 2002 he guested at the Prince Regent Theater in Munich as Ozzie in the musical On the Town and at the Bregenz Festival as David in the musical Company by Stephen Sondheim . In the years 2002–2004 he was engaged at the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart . At the Alten Schauspielhaus Stuttgart he appeared as Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet (2002), as Billy Crocker in the musical Anything Goes (2003), as Clifford Bradshaw in the musical Cabaret (2004) and as the gardener Danus in the Rosamunde Pilcher adaptation Die Muschelsucher (2004; Director: Karina Thayenthal ). At the comedy in the Marquardt in Stuttgart, he played Silvio in the Goldoni comedy The Servant of Two Masters in 2003 . In 2004 he appeared at the Komödie im Marquardt together with Johannes Heesters in the revue and musical homage Heesters as a young Johannes Heesters and sang songs and chansons with him.

From September 2005 to January 2006, in a production by Andreas Gergen , he played the role of Willy Hellwig in the musical Die Drei von der Gasstelle at the Berlin Schloßparktheater , based on the UFA film of the same name . In spring 2007 he appeared at the Alten Schauspielhaus Stuttgart as Hortensio in the Shakespeare comedy The Taming of the Shrew .

In 2009 he was a guest at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival as Clifford Bradshaw in Cabarat . In 2010 he played the student Perchik in the musical Anatevka at the theater in the town hall in Essen . From 2011 to 2014 he could be seen as Mirko in the Friedrich Hollaender revue Tingel Tangel at the Berlin Vaganten stage . In the 2012/13 season he appeared as Jan in the comedy Blütenträume by Lutz Hübner at the Theater am Aegi in Hanover . Since 2013 is a member of the Berlin theater and artist ensemble "Die Auftakter". As a performer he worked there on the "crime menu".

Zimmermann also worked for film and television. In the 15th season of the RTL series Behind Bars - Der Frauenknast , he had a supporting role as Sven Hauser. On ZDF's Inga Lindström television series , Zimmermann played the newspaper journalist Albin Persson, a former friend of the main female character Lilian Sjöberg ( Inez Bjørg David ), in the film The Black Swan , which premiered in January 2013 . In the fairy tale film Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern (2013) from the ARD fairy tale film series Six in One Stroke , he was the father of the girl Inga.

Zimmermann also took part in various musical projects. In 2007 he was a guest singer at the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau . As a speaker and reciter he gave readings. He performed in Munich and the surrounding area with his solo program Da geht ein Mensch auf , based on the autobiography of Alexander Granach .

Ben Zimmermann lives in Berlin. He is a member of the Federal Drama Association (BFFS).
