Karina Thayenthal (born April 2, 1961 in St. Gallen , Switzerland ) is an Austrian actress .

Life

Karina Thayenthal, the daughter of a Swiss manager and an Austrian conductor, grew up in Mödling near Vienna . After graduating from high school , she completed a three-year course at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts from 1980 to 1983 .

She then played on various stages, including the Schauspielhaus Graz (1982–83), the Landestheater Linz (1983–86) and the Vienna Volkstheater . She was, for example, in stigma of Felix Mitterer , in Zerbrochnen Krug von Kleist and Susn of Herbert Achternbusch to see. In Germany she initially accepted an engagement at the Saarbrücken State Theater (1987-88). Then she was engaged at the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt , where she played Marianne in stories from the Vienna Woods and Recha in Nathan the Wise .

In 1990 she appeared at the Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel as Vroni in Der Meineidbauer in a production that was also recorded by Bavarian television . For several years she has also directed the theater, a. a. in Stuttgart , Munich and Vienna.

Karina Thayenthal also played in numerous television films, thrillers and series (including Der Landarzt , Tatort , Rosamunde Pilcher ). For her role as Agnes in the television play Der Weg nach Lourdes , in which she portrayed a young woman with multiple sclerosis , she was awarded the German Television Prize in 1989 as "Best Young Actress".

At the end of 2012, she and her family moved to the rainforest in southwest Cameroon and, together with her husband, managed the drinking water project of a Swiss foundation for several years .

Karina Thayenthal, who is also a Swiss citizen, has lived in Switzerland since 2017. She is married and has three daughters.
