Benedikt Sauer

Benedikt Sauer (* 1960 in Bolzano ) is an Italian journalist and non-fiction author who grew up in South Tyrol and lives in Innsbruck . As a doctor of German studies , Sauer dealt primarily with the life and work of the contemporary writer norbert c. kaser (1947-1978). He teaches journalism and media communication, a. a. at the University of Innsbruck .

Education and professional career

Benedikt Sauer studied German and history at the University of Innsbruck and at the Scuola Superiore di Giornalismo in Urbino . In 1990 Sauer did his doctorate in Innsbruck with a biography of the South Tyrolean writer norbert c. kaser, which was then revised and published by Haymon Verlag . From 1989 to 1991 was sour at the Innsbruck Research Institute Brenner Archives as co-editor of the edition of the collected works of Norbert c. kaser involved.

Journalistic career

During his studies, Sauer worked for the South Tyrolean public broadcaster Rai Bozen (for a series about songwriters), the cultural magazine Sturzflug and editor of the student magazine skolast., 1984/85 also chairman of the South Tyrolean student body.As a freelance journalist, from 1987 he wrote mainly from Innsbruck for the German-language editorial team of the Bolzano daily Alto Adige (until 1998). Benedikt Sauer has been a permanent employee of Rai Südtirol (formerly: Rai Bozen) since 1991 , and since 2008 primarily in Innsbruck as a correspondent for Tyrol and Austria. From 1996 to 2008 Sauer was also a Tyrol correspondent with Hannes Schlosser for the daily newspaper Der Standard , and for four years he worked for the news magazine ff (Bozen). From August 2008 to July 2018 Sauer was also present as the author of the weekly column "Oxygen" in the Tyrolean daily newspaper .

Teaching and mediation work

From 1996 to 2008 Benedikt Sauer was a lecturer for journalism and media communication at the institutes for German literature, contemporary history and political science at the University of Innsbruck . Since 2013 he has been head of the radio journalism teaching department at Freirad - the Free Radio Innsbruck. During the museum redesign of the Innsbruck Hofburg from 2008 to 2010 (curator: Ilsebill Barta; concept: Rath & Winkler) Sauer drew for a book on the history of the Hofburg, for the exhibition texts and the audio guide (in cooperation with Antenna Audio, Berlin) responsible. He also regularly appears as a moderator of public debates.

Research on the writer norbert c. kaser

As a biographer, co-editor of the literary work and author of essays, Benedikt Sauer took care of the distribution and reception of the important but only posthumously recognized South Tyrolean writer norbert c. kaser deserved it. Sauer's kaser biography (1997, Haymon) and the collected works of the "Poète maudit" (1988–1991, also Haymon), which he co-edited , met with a wide response in the German-language feature pages.
