history

In 1317 a village was first mentioned in the area of today's Beregsau Mic with the place name Nemti . The name Némethy appears in medieval documents . In 1520 King Ludwig II gave the estate to the nobleman Valentin Bolyka. Serbs settled here in the 17th century. The Hungarian place name was "Beregso-Nemeti".

On the Mercy map from 1723-1725, the place Nemet is entered. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Nemet was part of the Temescher Banat . In 1880 Nemet was owned by the barons Iuliu Csavosy and Sima Mucialov.

On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Nemet also belonged, fell to the Kingdom of Romania . From then on, Beregsau Nemțesc was the official place name. After the Second World War, Beregsău Mic became the official name. The former Serbian village is now mostly inhabited by Romanians.
