biography
In January 1996 Vajdič took part in the FIS races for the first time , and from December 1998 they played in the European Cup . At the Junior World Championships in 2000 , which took place in various locations in the Canadian province of Québec , Vajdič won the silver medal in the giant slalom and in the combination . The following year he was third in the slalom at the Universiade in Zakopane .
Vajdič had his World Cup premiere on October 31, 1999 at the giant slalom in Tignes . Due to a lack of progress, he was almost only used in the European Cup in the following four years. He scored World Cup points for the first time on February 28, 2004 in Kranjska Gora as the 26th of the giant slalom. At the end of winter he won his first of two Slovenian championship titles . In the 2005/06 European Cup season he was fifth in the giant slalom classification. At the 2005 World Cup in Bormio , his best result was 18th place in the combination; at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he finished 19th in slalom.
In the 2006/07 season Vajdič caught up with the world's best. On December 17, 2007, he achieved his best ever World Cup result, fifth place in the slalom on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia . He equalized this performance on January 25, 2009 at the Hahnenkamm Slalom in Kitzbühel . At the 2007 World Championships in Åre he was 26th in giant slalom and 18th in giant slalom at the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère . In the slalom, he was eliminated in the second round. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he failed in the first slalom run.
From the 2009/10 season Vajdič fell back significantly in the World Cup. After finishing only three times in the top 20 in 2009/10, he had no countable results in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons. After a few races in the winter of 2012/13, he retired from top-class sport.
