Bernd Friday

Bernd Horst Freitag (born January 6, 1942 in Chemnitz ) is a German anesthesiologist . In addition, from 1983 to 1990 he was a co-host of a magazine program on East German television.

Live and act

Bernd Freitag attended school and high school in Chemnitz. After graduating from high school , he studied human medicine at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald . He received his doctorate there in the field of pharmacology and toxicology . He completed his compulsory assistant at the hospital in the Küchwald Chemnitz . He then moved to the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology at Greifswald University as a research assistant , where he completed his training as a specialist in pharmacology and toxicology in 1972. Afterwards on Friday began further training as an anesthetist at the clinic for anesthesia and intensive therapy of the university. After graduating as a specialist , he was appointed senior physician in 1977. Bernd Freitag completed his habilitation in 1984 and was qualified to teach in the field of anesthesiology in 1986 .

In 1987 he was appointed university lecturer at the Medical Academy Magdeburg , as well as head of the department for clinical anesthesia there and deputy to the director of the clinic for anesthesiology and intensive therapy, Wolfgang Röse . Bernd Freitag worked in Magdeburg for three years.

From 1983 to 1990 he also moderated the 25-minute magazine show HAPS (Household Allerlei Practically Served) on GDR television alongside Elke Bendien , which offered tips, tricks and tricks on everything to do with the kitchen and household.

In 1990, Freitag moved to the clinic for anesthesia and intensive therapy at the Südstadt Clinic in Rostock as chief physician . At the same time he was appointed honorary lecturer at the Academy for Medical Training in the GDR . In the course of his rehabilitation at the medical faculty of the University of Rostock , he was appointed private lecturer and received the corresponding license to teach. In 1996 Bernd Freitag was appointed adjunct professor and became chief physician and medical director at the Südstadt Clinic. He held these positions until his retirement in 2007.

After the political change in the GDR , Freitag 1991 took over the chairmanship of the newly founded state association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the professional association of German anesthetists (BDA). From 2002 to 2004 he was the representative of the hospital anesthetists in the presidium of the BDA. From 2004 to 2007 he was vice president of the professional association. From 1998 Bernd Freitag was also a member of the executive committee of the German Academy for Anesthesiological Training (DAAF). He is still a member of the examination commission of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Medical Association and a member of the scientific advisory board of the KMG clinics .

The Professional Association of German Anesthesiologists recognized Bernd Freitag in 2008 with the award of the BDA gold pin of honor. Friday lives in Stralsund today .
