Bernd Friede (born February 18, 1980 in Klagenfurt ) is a former Austrian handball player .
Career
The 1.91 meter tall and 93 kilogram heavy backcourt player played for HC Kärnten until 1999. Then Friede wanted to move to St. Pölten, but the local association had to file for bankruptcy. So he joined Alpla HC Hard . After the backcourt player played for the Swiss first division club TSV St. Otmar St. Gallen between 2008 and 2010 , he returned to Alpla HC Hard. After the 2013/14 season, he ended his career there. After Alpa HC Hard struggled with injury problems at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Friede was reinstated in the squad. During his career he won the Austrian championship with Alpla HC Hard in 2003 , 2012 , 2013 and 2014 , as well as the ÖHB-Cup in 2004/05 , 2007/08 and 2013/14 . In addition, Friede was voted "Handball Player of the Year" in 2011/12 by the Handball League Austria .
He played with Hard in the EHF Challenge Cup (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008), the EHF Champions League (2004) and the European Cup Winners' Cup (2006), with St. Gallen in the EHF Cup (2009).
Friede scored 114 goals in 62 international matches for the Austrian national team . During his international career, he took part in the 2010 European Championship and the 2011 Men's Handball World Championship .
