Bernhard Holl

Bernhard Holl (born July 30, 1984 in Kuchl , Salzburger Land ) is an Austrian trombonist , composer and arranger .

Life

Bernhard Holl comes from Kuchl in the Salzburg region. From the age of 11 to 17 he received trombone lessons at the Musikum there and played in the local music association. In 1999 and 2001 he won first prize at the state competition “ Prima la musica ”, and in 2004 a second prize at the national competition. In 2001 he also graduated with the gold award for young musicians and received lessons from Horst Küblböck . From 2003 he studied the trombone concert as well as instrumental and vocal pedagogy with Dietmar Küblböck , Otmar Gaiswinkler , David Bruchez and Wolfgang Strasser at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , the Zurich University of the Arts and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . At the same time, he took jazz lessons from Robert Bachner and took master classes with Stefan Schulz , Ed Kleinhammer and Dave Taylor . In 2010 he finished his studies with distinction and the graduation as "Mag.art."

Holl has been performing as a stage musician at the Burgtheater in Vienna since 2004 , and has also performed with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra , the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra . However, Holl mainly plays in non-classical ensembles (in addition to the trombone, bass trumpet and Styrian harmonica ) and is a founding member of da Blechhauf'n (2000) and WüdaraMusi (2008). He played u. a. with Viera Blech , Pro Solist'y and MaChlast .

Holl has lived in the Styrian Johnsbach in Gesäuse since 2010 . He teaches deep brass instruments at the Admont Abbey High School .

Holl publishes his own arrangements and compositions in his own music publisher XeisWorks .
