Bernie Blanks (born September 12, 1963 in Rota , Spain ) is an American musical singer , songwriter , manager and entertainer living in Germany .

Life

Blanks grew up with two older brothers and a younger sister in Virginia Beach , Virginia . Bernie Blanks graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and history before moving to New York to get into show business.

At the age of eleven, a teacher discovered Bernie Blanks' singing and acting talent and asked his parents to audition him for a role in the musical The Most happy fella . From the mid-1980s he was seen in various musical productions such as Evita and A Chorus Line , before he was hired for the Japan / Australia tour of the musical Starlight Express .

Starlight Express brought Bernie Blanks to Germany in 1988 and made him known here. He played three seasons (1988 to 1990, 1992 to 1993 and 2004 to 2006) the role of the steam locomotive Rusty. Between the individual engagements at Starlight Express , he played leading and supporting roles in the musicals Grease and Shakespeare & Rock'n 'Roll . From 1999 to 2001 he played the dragon in Peter Maffay's Tabaluga & Lilli in Oberhausen .

Bernie Blanks worked as a trainer in singing and song interpretation in New York, USA. He wrote lyrics for his own songs as well as for the band Bro'Sis and Nicole da Silva. With his own concert series "Another Country" he successfully went on tour in 2005/2006. In 2008 Bernie Blanks took part in the successful anniversary tour of Musical Hautnah as a soloist. In January 2009 he was Lorielle London's companion for the RTL show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! .

At the beginning of 2008, Bernie Blanks founded the artist agency "Blanks Ehlen Ltd." together with his business partner Britta Ehlen.
