Beth Howland
Elizabeth "Beth" Howland (born May 28, 1941 in Boston , Massachusetts , † December 31, 2015 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American actress .
Life
Howland left home at the age of 16 and moved to New York City . She made her Broadway debut in 1959 in the musical Once Upon a Mattress and then played from 1960 to 1961 in the musical Bye Bye Birdie alongside Dick Van Dyke . In November 1961 she married the actor Michael J. Pollard . The marriage, which resulted in a daughter, was divorced in 1969. From 1970 to 1972 she played on Broadway in the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Musical Company , after which she moved to California to pursue a television career there. From 1973 she had guest roles in various television series such as Cannon , Bronk and Our Little Farm .
Between 1976 and 1985 she starred in nine seasons with a total of 202 episodes, the role of Vera Louise Gorman in the sitcom snack with bite , obtained by them great popularity in the United States and for which it four times in a row for the Golden Globe Award nominations has been. After the series ended, she only played a few roles, including guest appearances in Mord ist her Hobby and Sabrina - Totally Verhext! .
Howland was married to actor Charles Kimbrough for the second time .
It was not until May 2016 that it became known that Beth Howland had died on New Year's Eve 2015 at the age of 74 in Santa Monica.
