In her work, Schünemann likes to combine different colors and fabrics in often overlapping layers. She contrasts z. B. Materials such as sand, wood, textiles or shellac with glossy photos or foils. The possibilities of the surface are exhausted.

The focus of her work is the “ view of the world ”. On the one hand, she uses map material whose colored surfaces and the branches of rivers and streets are processed. On the other hand, the shape of the circle plays a major role - as an ideal shape in itself, as a world shape and also in its cyclical nature. In this context of content and form, series of paintings on canvas, watercolors, collages, assemblages and light boxes were created.

"The special thing about the first flight to the moon was not so much the first time you step on the satellite, but the view of the earth."
