Beverly Washburn (* 25. November 1943 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress .

Life

Washburn's first film role was that of six-year-old Walda Kowalski in the 1950 film The Killer That Stalked New York , which is about an outbreak of smallpox in New York City . She then starred in many anthology series that appeared on American television at the time, such as in Jane Wyman's Fireside Theater (1950–1955), The Ford Television Theater (1952), Lux Video Theater (1953, 1956), Schlitz Playhouse of Stars (1953, 1957), Four Star Playhouse (1954, 1956), HJ Heinz Companys Studio 57 (1955–1956), Chevron Hall of Stars (1956), Adventures in the Wild West (1956), The 20th Century-Fox Hour (1956 -1957), General Electric Theater (1956, 1958), Shirley Temple's Storybook (1958), and One Step Beyond (1959).

In 1951 she starred in the movie Superman and the Mole Men , which was then cut into two half-hour segments. These became the first two episodes of the television series Adventures of Superman , starring George Reeves and Phyllis Coates . Also in 1951, she appeared as an orphaned French girl in Frank Capra's film The Wedding Parade , starring Bing Crosby , Franchot Tone , Alexis Smith and Jane Wyman . Even before Washburn had a guest appearance on Jack Benny's The Jack Benny Program in 1952 , she could be heard on the radio with the comedian . From 1954 to 1956 she appeared in four episodes of the NBC series Your Star: Loretta Young . In 1955 she starred in the almost forgotten CBS sitcom Professional Father as the daughter of Stephen Dunne and Barbara Billingsley . Phyllis Coates also starred in this series as the nurse Madge Allen. In the 1957 Walt Disney film His Friend Jello , she played Lisbeth Searcy.

In 1959, young Washburn appeared in Growing Up , a popular sitcom in which Billingsley played mother June Cleaver. Other film and television productions in which Washburn was seen are Police Report (1954), Fury (1956), The Millionaire (1956), the film The White Rider (1956), The Law and Mr. Jones (1960) and Target: The Corruptors (1962). In the CBS western series The Texan , she had two appearances on the side of Rory Calhoun . Once as Henrietta Tovers in the episode No Tears for the Dead (1958) and once as Greta Branden in the episode Badman (1960). Another western series she appeared in is the NBC series Wagon Train . Here she played in the pilot episode The Willy Moran Story (1957), in the episode The Tobias Jones Story (1958) and as Milly Sharp in the episode The Cassie Vance Story (1963). One of her co-stars in The Tobias Jones Story is comedian Lou Costello , who played his first dramatic role in that episode. In 1961, Washburn portrayed the character Lolly Howard in the episode Parasite Mansion of Boris Karloff's NBC series Thriller . From 1962 to 1963 she appeared as the older daughter Vickie Massey in 26 episodes of The New Loretta Young Show , in which Young played a widowed mother of seven who earned a living writing for a magazine in Connecticut . Washburn also starred in the Warner Bros. ABC detective series Hawaiian Eye (1963) and 77 Sunset Strip (1964). She had other appearances in two episodes of Mr. Novak (1964-1965) and Gidget (1965-1966) as well as in one episode each of Arrest and Trial (1963) and The Patty Duke Show (1965). In 1967 she played Lieutenant Arlene Galway in the episode How Fast Time Flies in the NBC science fiction series Starship Enterprise .

In the 1970s from 1973 to 1977 she appeared in three episodes of Quinn Martin's crime series The Streets of San Francisco with Karl Malden and Michael Douglas : Barbara's Baby (1973), Letters from the Grave (1975) and as Michelle Rhodes in The Lawyer (1977). Only a few film and television appearances followed, such as the 1984 episode Resurrection from the Dead of the CBS series Agentin mit Herz . In 2009 she played Wilma in the video film Demon Haunt . In 2015 she played Reyna Belasco Rosenthal in R. Christian Anderson's When the World Came to San Francisco .

Washburn is an aunt of actress Darlene Tompkins, who is only three years younger. Her brother, George Washburn, who died of a heart attack in 1991 , was an actor, stunt performer, and racing driver. She was married to Michael Radell.
