The Beverteich nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the town of Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The 9.50  hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1993 , extends southeast of the core town of Hückeswagen directly on Kreisstraße  5, which passes on the southern edge. The Wupper flows to the west and the B 237 runs along it . The Bevertalsperre extends northeast with a water surface of 200 hectares. The name- giving pond is located in the course of the Bever just before it flows into the Wupper.

Protection goals

  • Preservation of a still water body with well-developed underwater floating plant and reed areas
  • Preservation and restoration of adjacent silting zones with alluvial forest complex

The area was to be protected as a resting and breeding place for rare and endangered water bird species and as a habitat for amphibians.
