The modern, political districts of the Habsburg monarchy were created in 1867/68 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Littai was formed on March 10, 1867 from the judicial districts of Littai ( Slovene Sodnijski okraj Litaja ) and Weixelburg ( Višnja Gora , originally parakeet).

In 1869, 32,642 people lived in 5,385 houses in the Littai district.

The district had a present population of 34,115 people in 1880, with 38,400 people giving Slovene and 704 German as the colloquial language.

In 1910, 36,579 people were expelled from the district, of whom 35,900 spoke Slovene (98.1%) and 369 German (1.0%).

Due to the border regulations of the Treaty of Saint-Germain concluded on September 10, 1919 , the Littai district was completely added to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
