history
Name development

Local history
Biehlen, mentioned in 1398, was laid out as a street village. The inhabitants lived from fishing, among other things. Biehlen was only connected to Schwarzbach and Naundorf by a road . Up until the Elster regulation in 1856, floods destroyed the harvest of the Biehlen farmers. From 1529 Biehlen belonged to the Ruhland manor and from 1777 to the Guteborn manor . On September 13, 1855, almost the entire village burned down, and seven houses, the school building and the manor house were spared from the flames.
From 1825 to 1952, Biehlen was part of the Hoyerswerda district . During this time, lignite mining developed in the area, but Biehlen remained an agricultural place. In 1952, Biehlen and the entire area around Ruhland came to the newly founded Senftenberg district . In 1974 Biehlen becomes part of the Guteborn / Schwarzbach / Biehlen community association. After the Guteborn community left in 1990, Schwarzbach and Biehlen formed their own community, which joined the Ruhland office in 1992.
