War memorial

Peickwitz was first mentioned in 1455 in the royal fiefdom of the Ruhland rule . The village was laid out as a street perch village and, like most places in the area, was mostly inhabited by Sorbs . From 1622 until the end of the 19th century was a Peickwitz Vorwerk of the manor to Hohenbocka . In 1884/85 half of the population was Sorbian.

With the beginning of industrialization through the mining of glass sand in Hosena and Hohenbocka, the glassworks and open-cast mining , the living conditions also changed. In addition to agriculture, industrial work came to the fore as a source of income. During the GDR era, Peickwitz had the largest milk production facility in the Senftenberg district .

From 1992 to the end of 2001 Peickwitz was part of the Am Senftenberger See office . On December 31, 2001, Peickwitz was incorporated into Senftenberg.

The Peickwitz coat of arms depicts a pushing stick (a wooden cart) in a field. Above it is the sun in the left corner.
