The Hosena station (by the year 2000 as the station Hohenbocka called) is a railway - operating agency at the węgliniec-roßlau railway and intersecting here lübbenau-kamenz railway . The train station is located in the southeast of the state of Brandenburg in the village of Hosena , north of the village of Hohenbocka .

The station was laid out in 1874 as a tower station for the Lübbenau – Kamenz and Kohlfurt – Roßlau lines. Remains of the railway overpass on the Lübbenau – Kamenz line still bear witness to this today.

At the beginning of April 1871, Kaiser Wilhelm I signed the concession document with the Royal Saxon State Government and the concessioned Berlin-Görlitzer Gesellschaft and approval was given to build the connecting line from Senftenberg to the Radeberg-Kamenzer Bahn . On September 1, 1871, the first construction work began. On December 7, 1871, a state treaty was signed between Saxony and Prussia , which regulated the execution of a route from Lübbenau – Calau – Senftenberg – Kamenz. The flat, river-poor country north of Kamenz offered favorable geographical conditions for the rapid progress of the construction work, which proceeded without difficulties. The Prussian border north of Hosena was reached as early as 1872.

Another connecting line, running from the Cottbus-Großenhainer Bahn in an east-west direction, the later Lower Silesia Magistrale, was put into operation on June 1, 1874 between Kohlfurt (Węgliniec) and the nearby Ruhland .

At the beginning and in the early middle of the 20th century, the Hosena rail hub became increasingly important. The reviving brown coal and basalt mining in the area led to an ever increasing volume of traffic. When the GDR was founded , the population in the area doubled on average. The town of Hoyerswerda, about 15 kilometers away, with 70,000 inhabitants was created . The population growth and ever more intensive mining as well as the settlement of industry in the Hosena area strengthened the importance of the station.

Between 1955 and 1957, the Niemtsch opencast mine (now Senftenberger See ), which had already been developed at the end of the 1930s, was relocated on the Lübbenau – Kamenz line on a 7.5 kilometer section between Senftenberg and Hohenbocka (or Hosena). A new route was built from Hosena southwest along the village of Peickwitz and east to the village of Biehlen and west to the Briesker village to the Grossenhain – Cottbus railway line, directly to the former Brieske traffic stop. The old route was interrupted north of Hosena, the remains of the Hosena train station are now used as a shunting track for the nearby basalt mine in Koschenberg.

With the end of the GDR and the onset of economic and political change, the rapid development of the station stalled. The decline in population led to cuts and changes in the structure of transport. On 23 May 1998 the passenger service on the stretch Hosena-Kamenz from the time when it was local rail transport authorities competent National Tourist Corporation Saxony canceled. Further settings and changes followed. On October 10, 2005, passenger train traffic on the Hosena – Senftenberg section was discontinued. This was however resumed in the following years with the regional express Stralsund –Hoyerswerda and the regional train Berlin-Schöneweide –Hoyerswerda. In connection with several construction measures in the area of ​​the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) , with the timetable change in December 2011, there was again a provisional suspension of passenger train traffic between Hosena and Senftenberg. With the timetable change on December 15, 2013, the previous line RE 11 was integrated as line S 4 in the network of the Central German S-Bahn .

A serious accident occurred in the station on July 26, 2012 at around 8:20 pm, in which two freight trains of the ITL railway company collided. A block train loaded with gravel from Schwarzkollm to Rzepin hit the flank of an empty train. Here was warden interlocking W3 destroyed the station Hosena, the course attendants was buried by the rubble of the collapsing building and died. About 20 cars were pushed into each other by the forces of the collision. About 80 rescue workers from THW , fire brigade , federal police and Deutsche Bahn were busy over several days with the complex clearance and repair. Hardly 16 months later, on November 11, 2013 at around 6:30 p.m., there was another accident, this time an unloaded freight train drove onto a stationary train loaded with around 3,500 tons of grit.

After only one year of planning and approval - usually five to six years - an electronic interlocking was built in November 2013 to replace the destroyed interlocking and to remove the station's restricted accessibility as a result of the accident. Three level crossings were also renewed and integrated into the new signal box. The new electronic interlocking went into operation together with the renewed level crossings at the end of 2014, and since then the railway infrastructure at Hosena station has been fully used again.

In the 2018 timetable year, Hosena was served by the RE 15 (Dresden – Hoyerswerda) and S 4 (Markkleeberg – Leipzig – Hoyerswerda) lines every two hours. There is no longer any tourist traffic on the Lübbenau – Kamenz – Arnsdorf route.
