The village of Billafingen is a district of the Baden-Württemberg community of Owingen in the western Lake Constance district in Germany .

Billafingen is located in the so-called Billafinger Valley , around three and a half kilometers northwest of the center of Owingen.

Billafingen

In 1684 Billafingen came into the possession of the Roth von Schreckenstein family .

Billafingen was an independent municipality in the Überlingen district . When this was dissolved in the course of the district reform on January 1, 1973 , Billafingen came to the Bodenseekreis. As part of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , the municipality of Billafingen was incorporated into Owingen on January 1, 1975.

In the national competition " Our village has a future " in 2010, Billafingen was awarded silver.

Billafingen had 360 on June 6, 1961, 401 on May 27, 1970 and 728 on December 31, 2006.

The coat of arms of the formerly independent municipality of Billafingen shows a silver bar with two red rings in red and a red-tongued silver unicorn body in the black heart shield. The unicorn is borrowed from the coat of arms of the Roth von Schreckenstein family .

Culture and sights

In Billafingen there is a village and nature trail with 33 stations.

On the Lower Frickhof, which is in the public hands, there has been a variety conservation garden for pears since 1987, with more than 400 different mostly old varieties. These are cider, distilled, dried and edible pears. This project is also funded by the Heinz Sielmann Foundation as part of the Sielmann Biotope Association Bodensee . The biotope network began with the Heinz-Sielmann-Weiher project, which was created in 2004. This is located in the Billafingen district, has a size of 1.5 ha and forms the center of a wetland biotope of approx. 10 ha in size.
