action

Lieutenant Hemp Brown accompanied the army car with the soldiers' pay with a small escort . Former Sergeant Jed Givens is standing by the wayside and wants to be taken away. No sooner has he sat in the car than he pulls out his revolver and shoots the driver from behind. Givens' gang was just waiting for this sign. The men emerged from the background in a flash and attacked the transport. All are slaughtered mercilessly; only Hemp Brown survived.

The trial before the court-martial is different from what Brown had expected: The court has a document according to which Sergeant Givens was killed on an enterprise last year. So the lieutenant is lying. His accusation Givens is seen as an excuse to explain his survival and cover up his cowardice. The verdict: Brown is dishonorably discharged from the army . But he is now doing everything possible to convict the real perpetrators in order to prove his innocence. Brown leads his first lead in Bo Slauter's Saloon , where he can ask what he is looking for. Slauter also appears willing to sign a statement that he met Givens in person today. But no sooner did Slauter get ready to sign than Givens Brown was able to trick Brown and flee. In pursuit of the fugitive, Brown's horse begins to paralyze and he has to continue on foot. On the way he passes the car of the showman Serge Bolanos. His colleague Mona immediately casts a spell over him, and it doesn't take long before the two get closer.

After many setbacks, Hemp Brown finally succeeds in catching the murderer Givens and handing over to the sheriff . Brown's dishonorable discharge is reversed and soon he can lead his Mona to the altar.
