The Bismarckviertel is a location in the Berlin district of Steglitz in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district on the northeastern edge on the border with the Schöneberg district . The names of the 15 streets in this area all have a connection to Otto von Bismarck .

Geographical location

The Bismarckviertel is limited

The streets mentioned do not belong to the Bismarckviertel themselves.

history

In 1899 the entire area was still vacant. In 1905 the Steglitz cycling track was built on Körnerstrasse. A plan from 1907 shows the location of the cycling track as a sports park in Steglitz in today's Bismarckviertel. The layout of the streets between Lauenburger and Körnerstraße gives an idea of the shape.

Between the years 1908 and 1910 the streets were named (see list of streets), the site was developed and the first houses were built. The First World War prevented complete development. In the vicinity of the main line , building losses were high due to bomb hits from World War II . The development program of the 1950s closed the first gaps. One of the last vacant properties on the corner of Feuerbachstrasse and Lauenburger Strasse was opened up in 2013 by a senior citizens' residence.
