The Diocese of Alto Valle del Río Negro ( latin Dioecesis Rivi Nigri Vallensis Superioris , Spanish diócesis de Alto Valle del Río Negro ) is in Argentina situated Roman Catholic diocese based in General Roca .
It was separated from the diocese of Viedma on July 22, 1993 and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bahía Blanca as a suffragan .
The diocese includes the departments General Roca and El Cuy of the province of Río Negro . Its area is slightly larger than Baden-Württemberg , while the population only corresponds to that of Karlsruhe . So it is a sparsely populated area.
There are nine branches of women's orders and six branches of men's orders in the diocese. The cathedral in General Roca is called Nuestra Señora del Carmen .
