The Roman Catholic Diocese of Locri-Gerace ( lat. : Dioecesis Locrensis-Hieracensis , ital. : Diocese of Locri-Gerace ) is in Italy situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Locri .
history
The diocese of Locri-Gerace was established as the diocese of Gerace in the 5th century . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria as a suffragan .
On April 8, 1920, the Private Abbey of Santa Maria di Polsi was incorporated into the Diocese of Gerace . The Diocese of Gerace was renamed the Diocese of Gerace-Locri on February 22, 1954 . The diocese of Gerace-Locri was renamed the diocese of Locri-Gerace on September 30, 1986 by the Congregation for Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis .
