The Roman Catholic Diocese of Piazza Armerina ( lat. : Dioecesis Platiensis , ital. : Diocese of Piazza Armerina ) is on Sicily located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church , located in Piazza Armerina . It belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Agrigento in the ecclesiastical region of Sicily and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Agrigento .
history
The diocese of Piazza Armerina was established on July 3, 1817 as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Monreale . When the church province Monreale was dissolved on December 2, 2000, the diocese was assigned to the newly founded church province Agrigento .
