The diocese Taiohae o Tefenuaenata ( Latin : Dioecesis Taiohaëna seu Humanae Telluris ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church on the Marquesas Islands in Polynesia with its seat in Taiohae .

history

Pope Pius IX founded the Vicariate Apostolic Marquesas Islands on May 9, 1848 from cessions of territory of the Vicariate Apostolic Eastern Oceania .

On June 21, 1966 it was raised to the diocese of Taiohae with the Apostolic Constitution Prophetarum voces and received its current name on May 31, 1974.
